It is a good short read.

So this website Blackle [link] has come about to "save energy" by making google black. Ok, Everyone who believes this needs to do some research. This is wrong, what they are doing does not help anything, except maybe your eyes, and thier "watts saved" at the bottom is so completely off it is not funny. So here is a list of things you should know before promoting Blackle.

1. It only saves energy on CRT monitors. It actually use more on some LCD monitors but LCD use less energy anyway. CRTs are on the way out especially with the popularity of laptops. The watts on the bottom are assumeing you have a CRT making the number complete wrong.

2. Google's server is so much faster that even thought the white is taking more energy to display the Blackle page is taking about twice as long and displaying white while it takes time to load meaning you are waiting longer and using more energy.

3. The HTML default color is white. White loads fast because the browser does not have to do anything. You change colors it takes longer and that information has to be sent over to you. This takes more time and more bandwidth to change the color to black instead of leaving the default white. Once again this means Blackle is using more energy and bandwidth now!

I do not have anything against saving energy but I do find it dumb when people do not know what they are taking about. The article that Blackle is based on is about how little changes can save energy. I believe in this and I use the 16 watt light bulbs that shine brighter then 100 watts. This is one of those simple and easy changes! The whole idea is to do little things to save energy and the earth. Like remember to throw your soda cans in the recycling or not using your AC when you can open the windows. It is little things that anyone can do but most are too lazy so please. Start doing the research and understand the technology before supporting something that is doing the opposite even if they meant good. I support the cause but not the actions. I do support how Blackle gives you common and easy ways to save energy and that is great but they should not tell people that they are saving energy by using their site.

Now, don't go getting me started on Global warming, you all, every single person in the world needs to go watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle" and stop watching Gore's movie that does not explain much of anything and leaves out important facts. You also need to watch old documentaries from the 90s about ice, yes ice that tell us about how we are in a colder period of earth natural heat-up and cool-down cycle.

Anywho, I am at work with nothing to do so I draw, I put pictures on the lappy so I should be able to have lots of new pictures up at some point in time. I need to fix all the colors when I do it on the lappy and it is a slight pain to get my big monitor and plug it into the lappy. So, more updates soonish.
